Todd Shapera is a sensitive and worldly photographer. His work mixes global photojournalism with sophisticated wedding and Bar Mitzvah photography in New York, Westchester, and Connecticut.
Globally, Todd was named a “Top-30" wedding photographer by WedAward in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, he was ranked 11th on that list.
Nationally, Todd has been awarded Wedding Wire's "Couple's Choice Award" for five consecutive years, from 2014-2018, based on bridal reviews. He has been honored to photograph weddings and Bar Mitzvahs for visually sophisticated clients -- photographers, filmmakers, network news producers, television executives, and marketing/advertising professionals.
Todd approaches sophisticated weddings as a story teller, capturing relaxed and timeless photographs, beautifully lit. His wedding photography has been featured in Sophisticated Weddings magazine, The New York Times' Vows column, New York Weddings, Destination Weddings, Well Wed, and Westchester Weddings magazine - where his work has been featured "Wedding of the Month" and "Wedding of the Year." His Bar Mitzvah portraits have frequently been cover images in Bar Mitzvah magazine.
Todd Shapera's global photojournalism in Africa and Central America is exhibited on SocialDocumentary.net.
In the arts, for seven years Todd photographed dance, performing arts and special events at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund's Kykuit Estate near Tarrytown. Large prints of his work were exhibited by the Fund at Kykuit from May-October 2015.
Todd's landscape and adventure travel photography have been published and exhibited widely.
Todd has taught photography workshops at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Estate - Kykuit, The Stone Barns Center, Kripalu and Omega. He has a M.A. from Colombia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. from Vassar.
Todd works out of a Hudson Valley farmhouse with his daughter, Emma, companion Libby, and two shelter dogs.
In a profile, Professional Photographer magazine wrote: “Todd Shapera is driven by a passion to capture the inner beauty and resilience of individuals just about everywhere on earth. He is linking disparate worlds through photography.”
